HASAN ADVOCATES FOR...

Florida State Representatives are charged with presenting the best interest of their district. They introduce and support laws and amendments best for their district. As a Florida House Representative, I plan to serve as a political spokesperson for the people  of district 92 and the State of Florida by representing important issues and topics to the individuals and community and being accountable to those I represent in my district.

Some of the important topics in District 92 that I advocate for include:

THE MIDDLE CLASS & UNDER-REPRESENTED COMMUNITIES

  • Affordable housing

    • Americans say the availability of affordable housing in their local community is a major problem. As prices for owning your own home or renting in the local community surge, the concern from local citizens grows and outweighs many other local issues.

  • Increased incentives for first-time home buyers

    • Owning a home is said to be part of the American dream.  Unfortunately, becoming a home owner is becoming more and more difficult and starting to become unattainable for many Florida residents. We need to increase incentives for local first-time buyers and help improve living conditions and quality of life for our local community.

  • Free Childcare

    • Proper childcare and education is so important to the development of individuals and for the betterment of the community. Helping lower income families receive the proper childcare and easily understand how to utilize it is advantageous for our great State of Florida.

GUN CONTROL

  • Help Pass Common Sense Gun Control Laws

    • Gun control is a  touchy subject right now in the US. Sadly, many lives are lost every day due to gun violence and accidents. Working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for what is best for everyone and passing common sense laws to protect against many unfortunate injuries and deaths while preserving our rights is vital.

  • Banning Ghost Guns

    • Ghost guns have no serial number and are untraceable firearms that can be bought online and assembled at home. They are often sold through "ghost gun kits," which include all of the parts and often the equipment necessary to build a weapon at home by any person. These kits are too widely available and can be purchased by anyone without a background check, including prohibited purchasers, domestic abusers, and gun traffickers.

    • Right now, there is hardly anything prohibiting dangerous individuals or people who shouldn't obtain a firearm from doing so with ghost guns.  Government and local state representatives need to work together on laws prohibiting ghost guns and making our communities safer.

EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS

  • Increase Teachers Salaries

    • Florida ranks near the bottom in the country when it comes to school teacher pay. And due to this and many other issues teachers face in the classroom, many of our valuable teachers are leaving the state or even the profession.  Education is so vital to our future, we must work on preserving our invaluable teachers and paying them fairly for the important role they play in developing our future.

  • Special Education Funding

    • Special education is so importance for children with learning disabilities. It gives them the opportunity for quality education in line with their unique needs. Special education enables every student to gain a high level of independence and reach their potential. Every child deserves a quality education no matter of their abilities.

  • Re-establish Smaller Class Sizes

    • Smaller class sizes when coupled with qualified teachers help ensure students get the most out of their education.  There are many benefits to smaller class sizes, such as; students get noticed more and are allowed to participate more, teacher can teach more and have time for individual students needs, class rooms become a community, students interact more and learn the importance of sharing ideas and the results are proven that smaller class sizes improve learning and results.

    • However, many local school districts aren’t setting any kind of specific, smaller class-size goals. This maybe due to lack of teachers and correspond with the need for increase in teacher's salaries.  This is an important topic that needs attention on the local, state and federal level.

  • Initiatives to Improve School Security

    • The safety and security of our schools and children are of upmost importance.  The need to improve safety and education for our students and those who work to keep our schools is a major issue.  Other issues such as bullying, harassment, and school discipline policies should also be at the forefront because they too affect school safety on a daily basis and help shape our children.  Working hand and hand with our local community and education system, we need to step up security, awareness and education.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS

  • Easy Access to Women's Healthcare

    • Across her lifespan, a woman’s health status matters not only to herself, but her family and loved ones. It also matters to the local government and state budgets.  As legislators are working with tight budgets and changing different healthcare laws, this can impact women's needs and future.  If these needs are not addressed properly, Florida loses important opportunities to improve the health of it's residents, community and establishing goals in creating a healthier society.

    • Women are often the key to healthy families. They tend to access the health system more than men, both for themselves and on behalf of their children or elderly family members. . Elder and long-term care issues impact women more often because they live longer; have higher rates of disability and chronic health problems; and lower incomes than men on average.  Providing easy access to the proper healthcare for women is vital to a healthy and productive community and an important topic for this campaign.

  • Eliminate Anti-choice Restrictions

    • The US legal structures are increasingly limiting access to abortion. Yet restricting women’s access to safe and legal abortion services has important negative mental and health implications. The need to support women in their efforts to better integrate their reproductive and professional roles and responsibilities should not be restricted.

  • Advocate for Planned Parenthood Funding

    • Founded over 100 years ago on the the idea that women have the right to access the care and information they need to live strong, healthy lives, Planned Parenthood is fighting a tough battle to help women access sexual health care and defend reproductive rights. Local government should be working with Planned Parenthood on their goal to create the healthiest generation ever.

SENIOR CITIZENS

  • Access to Free Transportation

    • Aging often coincidences with many limitations.  One of the most difficult challenges of aging is the ease of mobility and lack of independence.  Access to transportation for Seniors is crucial for the wellbeing of them and the community.  With so many positives to accessing transportation, such as socializing, running important errands, important doctor visits, seeing loved ones, combating depression and so much more, we need to improve the right and access of transportation of our elderly citizens.

  • Combat Elderly Abuse in Nursing Homes

    • Often times during our lives, a loved one needs additional care, such that a nursing home can provide. Those with loved ones in nursing homes may not have the ability to watch over for an elder as closely as they would like. But having the confidence that they are being treated properly and with the upmost respect shouldn't be too much to ask.

    • However, too often, nursing homes and their employees are understaffed, overworked or under screened for the daily roles as a caregiver.  Sometimes this leads to rushed care, frustration, burnout and lack of proper care for the tenants, which are all types of abuse.  We need to combat elderly abuse in nursing homes and throughout our communities.

  • Home Maintenance Care

    • The mass majority of individuals, including seniors, prefer to live in their home and age in place. But as we age, day-to-day activities like housekeeping and home maintenance become increasingly challenging and often unsafe. Home maintenance services for seniors help elderly individuals keep their independence by living at home longer and easing their minds about being safe and improving their quality of life.  Home Maintenance Care is an important topic for the well being of our local citizens and one we should address and improve together.
